18. Appointment and functions of chairperson

18.1The Chief Inspector of Mines is the chairperson of the Authority.

 

18.2The members of the Authority must appoint one among their members to act as chairperson of the Authority at any meeting when the chairperson is absent.

 

18.3Every chairperson must, with regard to the Authority or committee which the person chairs—
18.3.1allow each constituency to appoint from among its members a person to act as convenor of such constituency for communication purposes. If a constituency does not appoint such convenor, the chairperson may appoint any member of that constituency as convenor of the constituency;
18.3.2cause meetings to be convened; and
18.3.3ensure the orderly conduct of meetings and that all 18.3 resolutions are recorded.

 

18.4A chairperson may order any member to leave a meeting if in the opinion of the chairperson the behaviour of such member is disruptive to the orderly conduct of the meeting.
