10. Objectives of AgriSETA

10.1The objectives of AgriSETA are to promote the purposes of the Act within the sector.

 

10.2The purposes of the Act are-
10.2.1to develop the skills of the South African workforce-
10.2.1.1to improve the quality of life of workers, their prospects of work and labour mobility;
10.2.1.2to improve productivity in the workplace and the competiveness of employers;
10.2.1.3to promote self-employment; and
10.2.1.4to, improve the delivery of social services;
10.2.2to increase the levels of investment in education and training in the labour market and to improve the return on that investment;
10.2.3to encourage employers-
10.2.3.1to use the work-place as an active learning environment;
10.2.3.2to provide employees with the opportunities to acquire new skills;
10.2.3.3to provide opportunities for new entrants to the labour market to gain work experience; and
10.2.3.4to employ persons who find it difficult to be employed;
10.2.4to encourage workers to participate in learnerships and other training programmes;

10.2.5to improve the employment prospects of persons previously disadvantaged by unfair discrimination and to redress those disadvantages through training and education;

10.2.6to ensure the quality of education and training in and for the workplace;
10.2.7to assist—
10.2.7.1work-seekers to find work;
10.2.7.2retrenched workers to re-enter the labour market; and
10.2.7.3employers to find qualified employees.
