Constitution of the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA)

1. Definitions

In this Constitution, any word or phrase that is defined in the Skills Development Act, 1998 has the same meaning as in that Act, unless the context indicates otherwise.

 

"Act"

means the Skills Development Act, 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998).

 

"Alternate"

means an alternate to a member, as contemplated in clause 7.4 of this Constitution.

 

"Authority"

means the Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority.

 

"Director General"

means the Director-General of Labour.

 

"Local government"

means local government as generally contemplated in section 40(1) and chapter 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa 1996, (Act No. 108 of 1996).

 

"Member"

means a person who is a member of the Authority as contemplated in clause 7.1 of this Constitution.

 

"Minister"

means the Minister of Labour.

 

"Office-bearer"

means the chairperson or vice-chairperson of a structure of the Authority.

 

"Public Finance Management Act"

means the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act No. 1 of 1999).

 

"Skills Development Levies Act"

means the Skills Development Levies Act, 1999 (Act No. 9 of 1999).

 

"South African Qualifications Authority Act"

means the South African Qualifications Authority Act, 1995 (Act No. 58 of 1995).
