Maintenance of records and communications by Council

2.6The Council may, where appropriate, communicate with members and with third parties electronically. In communicating with its members, and in retaining records in electronic form, the Council shall ensure that all electronic communications and records are appropriately safeguarded, and that measures are established and maintained that secure the confidentiality and integrity of the communications and records (whether those records are in paper and text or in electronic form), in terms of generally accepted information security practices appropriate to the information.

 

2.7The Council shall appoint an information officer, whose functions shall include:
2.7.1overseeing the security of information processed by the Council;
2.7.2processing personal information in terms of legislation relating to the protection of personal information;
2.7.3providing access to information in terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, Act 2 of 2000; and
2.7.4interaction with the information officers of members and of third parties on issues relating to information security, protection of personal information and access to information.
